For those who weren’t readers of the previous incarnation of this blog, I’ll bring you up to speed. I’ve been doing it for about three years using various different CMS applications. During the recent server migration, I’ve found myself unable to get cgiwrap working again, thus my blog is high, dry, and inaccessible.
First on my list of things to do is to archive all three years of previous posts to a reasonably sane static HTML format. (I used blosxom, so there’s no hope of integrating with the new blog@USF, sorry)
Next, I plan to tweak the blogUSF theme to reflect a little more of my personal style. Nothing against blogUSF, by the way, it’s very nice, though it feels a tad generic to me.
Gnome-blog already seems to be working great, so some flickr integration and I should be on my way to some pretty seamless blogging. I should also mention that I’m going to try my hand at podcasting, it was neat during the Tour de Lance and it seems that all the cool kids are podcasting now, what with blogging a little passe.
I’ve already updated the header images to include one of myself. I’ll take a few of my steed and the surrounding Temple Terrace scenery later on to liven things up a bit. After all, we see the solarium every day, why not some variety in our blogs?
Your blosxom site is back up. No one complained that cgiwrap wasn’t working, so I didn’t realize there was a problem. Test it out an make sure everything is working.
There is a blosxom->wordpress import procedure here . I’ve never used it, but it looks like it would work.
Welcome to blog@USF. Feel free to customize your theme anyway you want. I wanted the default template to have a USF “feel”, but I also wanted students to be able to have their blog reflect their personal style.
Thanks, I thought it was an unfortunate side effect of the move from SunOS to RHEL, never thought to complain. Guess there aren’t too many cgiwrap users?
Nice work by the way on the blogUSF theme. I think I knocked it a little too roughly in this post. As I’m discovering, WordPress themes are a good deal more involved than blosxom “flavors” and the ability to include PHP inside the theme is very cool.
